Dallas is an interesting place. According to recent surveys, 87% of Dallas self identifies as Christian, but only 43% practice their faith. Additionally, 50% believe that it is good works that makes one right with God and 40% believe that Jesus sinned. All that to say, in Dallas "Christian" at a fundamental level means a lot of different things to a lot of different people!
As a church family, we want to be intentional about modeling and communicating what authentic discipleship to Jesus looks like. That is why we are calling these lessons, "This is Us." This is what we believe authentic discipleship looks like, and are values that when lived out lead to a better us and a better world.
As we seek to saturate Dallas with the goodness of the Gospel of Jesus most people we work with will be beginning with some basic background knowledge for better or worse about Jesus, church, faith etc. Thus the following resources are a great place to start with someone who identifies as a Christian, but is taking beginning steps in authentic discipleship. It is also a great place to start a new mentoring relationship for Christians of all levels of maturity. It corresponds with the basic values of our church as well.
The following lessons can be done either 1-on-1, in a group of 2-4 people or as a Lifegroup.
